About
Dr Charles Lowdell trained at Charing Cross Hospital Medical School and became interested in pursuing a career in Oncology whilst an SHO at the Royal Marsden Hospital, where he was exposed to a wide range of malignancies. As a registrar at Charing Cross Hospital he gained valuable experience in basic practice of oncology and administration of chemotherapy and broad exposure to the clinical indications for and use of therapeutic radiotherapy. Dr Lowdell later spent two years in full time clinical research investigating and developing photo chemotherapy for cancer management.
Dr Lowdell currently consults at Charing Cross Hospital where he is Lead Clinician for breast cancer and has previously been Lead Clinician for lung cancer. He is Honorary Consultant in Oncology at Chelsea & Westminster, West Middlesex, Queen Mary's and Kingston Hospitals and a Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College School of Science, Technology and Medicine.
Dr Lowdell has a broad clinical practice with a major interest in breast and gastro-intestinal malignancy. He treats skin, thyroid and a certain amount of general oncology. He has been a member of the external Advisory group reviewing lung cancer and gastro-intestinal cancer for Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham and has chaired the same group for breast cancer. He contributes to national studies in lung cancer, gastro-intestinal cancer, breast cancer and lymphomas.
