About
Mr. Andrew Symes is a Consultant Urological Surgeon with a decade of experience in the treatment of urological disorders, particularly stone disease. He sees private patients at the Nuffield Health Brighton Hospital, Hayward Heath Hospital, and Spire Montefiore Hospital.
Mr. Symes earned his primary medical qualification at the University of London and went on to undertake his basic and specialist urology training at renowned London Hospitals such as St Georges Hospital, the Royal Marsden, and University College London Hospital. During his time at University College London, Mr. Symes undertook prostate cancer research, for which he was awarded his Doctor of Medicine. He was then awarded a fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons, Urology, and was awarded for his high score for his specialist exams.
Mr. Symes later found his passion for endourology, minimally invasive treatment of benign prostate enlargement, and particularly, urinary tract stones disease. This drove Mr. Symes to undertake a further year of training at St Georges stone unit, allowing him to gain knowledge and experience in the use of cutting edge therapies such as corporeal lithotripsy, ureterorenoscopy, and percutaneous renal surgery.
Upon completion of his training, Mr. Symes was appointed Consultant at the Brighton & Sussex University Hospital NHS Trust and has since established the only fixed-site lithotripter service.
