About
Mr. Alexander Watson is a Consultant
Vascular & Endovascular Surgeon with over 20 years of specialist experience
in the diagnosis and treatment of varicose veins and vascular conditions. He prides
himself in being a friendly, open and
approachable surgeon who treats patients how he himself would want to be
treated whilst also achieving the best outcomes possible. Professional but down
to earth, he avoids complicated medical jargon ensuring patients understand
their condition and the treatment options available to them.
Alex specialises in minimally invasive
varicose vein treatments, including endovenous laser ablation (EVLA),
radiofrequency ablation RFA), foam sclerotherapy and microsurgical phlebectomy.
His consultations always include a comprehensive duplex ultrasound scan,
enabling him to explain your condition clearly and create a bespoke,
evidence‑based treatment plan tailored to your symptoms, lifestyle and cosmetic
goals.
Unlike many national chain vein clinics
where treatment pathways can be generic or fragmented, Alex provides continuity
of care from first consultation to post‑procedure follow‑up, ensuring every
patient receives personalised, high‑quality care.
All treatments are offered on a ‘walk‑in,
walk‑out’ basis using the latest, state‑of‑the‑art minimally invasive
techniques. Most procedures take around one hour, require only local
anaesthetic, and allow patients to return to work or normal activities the next
day with minimal discomfort or downtime.
NHS Expertise with Private‑Sector
Accessibility
Alex runs a busy NHS practice at both
Dorset County Hospital and Royal Bournemouth Hospital, allowing his private
patients to benefit from the extensive experience, governance and
multidisciplinary support of the wider NHS vascular network. His dual practice
also enables a seamless integration of private and NHS care when required.
Living and working locally, Alex is known
for being easily contactable, responsive and highly supportive both before and
after treatment. His patient‑centred approach is reflected in his excellent
reviews on Doctify.
Example Reviews:
“The Sclerotherapy procedure I recently had was
very successful. I experienced Mr. Watson as a very skilled physician He also
is available, unhurried and answered all my questions and anxieties. I was in
safe hands.”
“I enjoyed the experience and I was very happy
with the outcome. I was especially pleased by how well things were explained to
enable me to make an informed decision.”
“I only had to wait 2 weeks, very professional
and the procedure was much more thorough than previous treatments I had through
the NHS. Excellent service”
“Couldn’t fault the experience, everything
explained perfectly and executed with the utmost professionalism”
Training & Background

Hospital Vascular Unit in Newcastle, where he developed his specialist interest
in endovenous therapies. He was subsequently invited to take up a consultant
position within the unit.
In 2013, Alex returned to Dorset with his
family to join the Dorset & Wiltshire Vascular Network as a Consultant
