About Mr Ahmed Ibrahim
Mr Ibrahim is a highly qualified Consultant Neurosurgeon with a special interest in managing complex spinal conditions and has a special interest in endoscopic spinal surgey and minimally invasvie treatment. Mr Ibrahim is based at Imperial College Healthcare Trust in London, UK. He has over 22 years of clinical experience and over 6 years of specialist experience in neurosurgery. He completed his medical degree at St Bartholomew's Hospital in 1999 and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in Neurosurgery in 2013. He completed higher neurosurgical training in London and also trained abroad, completing a prestigious 13 month Spinal Fellowship Diploma at the University of Toronto, Canada under the eminent Professor Fehings, a world leading spinal surgeon. Mr Ibrahim was chosen for the travelling fellowship as the only surgeon from the UK and 1 of 2 from Europe to join a travelling fellowship to Canada and the USA along with 5 other international fellows. His post-qualification training allowed him to further advance his skills and knowledge in complex spine surgeries. Mr Ibrahim has extensive expertise in robotic assisted spinal surgery and performed the first axial cervical spine fusion surgery in the UK. Mr Ibrahim has also developed advanced spinal endoscopy service and is a national proctor for training other surgeons in this ultra minimally invasive technique. Mr Ibrahim performed the first endoscopic lumbar fusion surgery in the UK. He currently practices as a Consultant Neurosurgeon at the following private hospitals and clinics: • London Bridge Hospital, London SE1 2PR • The Holly Private Hospital, Buckhurst Hill IG9 5HX • London Clinic, London W1G 6BW • HCA UK at The Shard, London SE1 9BS In his current practice, he typically sees patients with the following conditions: • Endoscopic spine surgery- ultra minimally invasive (Keyhole surgery) • Robotic spine surgery • Slipped disc, herniation or disc bulges • Neck and back pain • Sciatica • Leg pain • Cervical myelopathy or radiculopathy • spinal fractures and osteoporosis fractures needing kyphoplasty • Lumbar canal stenosis • Thoracic disc herniation- treated minimally invasively He is skilled in performing muscle-sparing minimal access spine surgery, disc replacement surgery and complex spinal surgeries. Outside of the clinic, Mr Ibrahim carried out research surrounding the use of stem cells to repair nerves following spinal cord paralysis. These findings, among others, were published in renowned peer-reviewed journals, featured in BBC 2's Horizon's and in the Sunday Times. Mr Ibrahim has won a number of international awards for his work in the management of spinal conditions, including the prestigious Crockard Prize awarded by the American Association of Neurological Surgeons/Congress of Neurological Surgeons. Mr Ibrahim's research surrounding cervical spine conditions was also awarded best resident/fellow paper by the North American Cervical Spine Research Society in 2014.
