Mr Mohamed Seif Alaaeldin is a Consultant Ophthalmic and Corneal Surgeon with specialist expertise in cataract and corneal surgery, refractive laser eye surgery, and the management of ocular surface and external eye diseases. His clinical practice includes complex cataract procedures and advanced corneal transplantation techniques, including lamellar and endothelial keratoplasty (DALK, DSAEK, and DMEK).
Mr Alaaeldin graduated top of his class from Alexandria School of Medicine in Egypt and completed his ophthalmology residency at Alexandria Main University Hospital. He subsequently undertook three years of subspecialty training in cornea, refractive surgery, and external eye diseases, followed by clinical fellowships at Southend University Hospital and King’s College Hospital in London.
He was appointed as an NHS Consultant in 2021, where he led the cornea service at Northampton and contributed to the cornea unit at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals. In February 2025, he joined Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Mr Alaaeldin holds a Master’s degree and a PhD in ophthalmology, with research interests including toric intraocular lenses and deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty for keratoconus. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and holds the Certificate in Laser and Refractive Surgery.
He is actively involved in teaching and research, serving as an examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, a lecturer at Alexandria School of Medicine, and a regular speaker at national and international conferences.
