Miss Freeman-Wang received her medical degree from Bristol Medical School in 1989 after completing elective training in obstetrics and gynaecology at Harvard Medical University and Shanghai Medical University. She began her career as a senior house officer at the Royal Free Hospital in 1991, later becoming a registrar and research fellow. Miss Freeman-Wang received the BMA TP Gunton Research Award after conducting research on women's anxiety connected with cervical pre-malignancy treatment.
She began working at Whittington Hospital in 2002 and is the lead clinician for the colposcopy and vulval services. Additionally, she runs a multizonal clinic for the management of women with premalignant lower genital tract changes and deputises for the gynaecology oncology unit lead.
Miss Freeman-Wang has also worked as the clinical director of women's and children's health and, between 2012 and 2021, she founded and led the Portland Hospital Colposcopy Users Group in 2009. She was Vice-Chair of the National Cervical Screening Advisory Committee. She is the immediate Past President of the British Society of Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy and the President -Elect of the International Federation of Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy.
Miss Freeman-Wang also has a clinical interest in the treatment of vulval disorders such as vulvodynia and is a member of the British and International Societies for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease. She is also a member of the International Anal Neoplasia Society (IANS). She received an Honorary Doctorate of Science in 2024.
In her leisure time, she enjoys art and medical history, as well as theatre and boxercise. She also has an interest in western and Chinese herbal medicine.
