About

Dr. Michael Lau brings his expertise and dedication to the Werribee community as part of the Pacific Smiles Dental team. With over ten years of experience, he specialises in crowns and bridge work, endodontics, periodontics, and minimally invasive cosmetic cases. Dr. Michael is a strong proponent of minimally invasive dentistry, using adhesive techniques to preserve tooth structure and deliver durable, long-lasting results.

A graduate of the University of Glasgow (2016) with Commendation, Dr. Michael has also achieved a Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (2017-2020) and is currently completing a two-year Certificate in Clinical Dentistry (Eduqual Level 7). His clinical passions include restoring worn front teeth with composite bonding, designing ceramic overlays, Maryland bridges, and applying Hall crowns to protect baby teeth without injections, ensuring comfortable and effective paediatric care.

Dr. Michael began his career in the UK, working in NHS and private practice as well as a general hospital as a Senior House Officer. He moved to Melbourne in 2020 to be with his wife and has been a valued member of Pacific Smiles Dental ever since.

Able to understand and speak basic Cantonese, Dr. Michael chose to practice at Werribee to serve his local community, reflecting his belief in giving back to the people around him. When he’s not in the clinic, Dr. Michael enjoys cycling, badminton, and spending time with his family, including his two young daughters.

Dr. Michael’s favourite part of being a dentist is taking pride in his work and forming long-term relationships with patients. He finds joy in watching his patients grow and seeing his dental work stand the test of time. His tip for a healthy smile: “Spit your toothpaste as much as you want, but don’t rinse your mouth, as toothpaste can protect your teeth.”

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
