About
Mr Mike Williamson is a consultant foot and ankle and major trauma surgeon practising at St George’s Hospital Major Trauma Centre. His adult foot and ankle practice is made up of all aspects of ankle, hindfoot, midfoot and forefoot pathology and trauma. His practice is firmly based around his patients, ensuring they have up to date evidenced based information, a trusting and supportive relationship with their surgeon, from initial presentation to rehabilitation, patient autonomy, and the right environment, to ensure treatment and management plans are tailored to the patient’s needs and expectations.
Mike read medicine at Cambridge University where he gained a full Blue in Hockey captaining the Blues Men’s team, also representing Great Britain U21s. During this time, he completed his elective at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General, Boston. He is double fellowship trained, having completed the sub-specialty Surrey Foot and Ankle Fellowship and subsequently, the Fellowship in Major Trauma and Limb Reconstruction at St George’s Major Trauma Centre, where he is now a consultant.
Mike has published papers in numerous peer-reviewed journals, focusing on foot and ankle surgery, trauma and education. He has presented this research at national and international conferences. He is an avid surgical teacher including being the Assigned Educational Supervisor for trauma and orthopaedic core surgical trainees at St George’s Major Trauma Centre, teaching on surgical skills course, organising the trainee consultant ready teaching programme and having been an instructor for many years on the Royal College of Surgeons Advanced Trauma and Life Support Course.
