About Dr Melody Smith
Dr. Melody Smith is a Clinical Psychologist with specialist expertise in neurodevelopmental conditions and child mental health. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Clinical Neuroscience before obtaining her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Surrey in 2019. Alongside this she is a member of the British Psychological Society.
Dr. Smith has a particular interest in supporting children with neurodevelopmental conditions, including ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and intellectual disabilities. Her work focuses on helping parents and caregivers better understand the underlying causes and functions of their child’s challenging behaviour.
Her approach is gentle, compassionate, and grounded in attachment-based principles, with a strong emphasis on nurturing the parent–child relationship. She integrates a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to each family’s needs, including Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based CBT, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy.
