About Dr Ru Xin Foong
Dr Melanie Ru Xin Foong is a Consultant in Paediatric Allergy with over 13 years of clinical and academic experience. She currently practises at The Portland Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare UK, and at Evelina London Children's Hospital, part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. She is also an Associate Consultant at London Allergy Consultants, where she is a long-standing and trusted member of the team. Dr Foong holds an MBBS and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from King’s College London. She completed her MRCPCH paediatric training with subspecialty focus in Paediatric Allergy, Immunology and Infectious Diseases, and later earned a PhD in Paediatric Allergy, focusing on the natural resolution of food allergies over time. Prior to becoming a consultant, she worked as a Clinical Lecturer in Paediatric Allergy. Her clinical and research interests include food allergy prevention, diagnostics, and treatment. She also has expertise in sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) for the treatment of aeroallergies. Known for her warm, evidence-based approach, Dr Foong collaborates closely with Professor George du Toit and Alia Boardman to provide personalised allergy care for children.
