About Mr Max Johnston
Mr Max Johnston is a Consultant Urological Surgeon based at New Hall Hospital in Salisbury and Sarum Road Hospital in Winchester. As a specialist in the management of benign prostatic conditions, kidney stones, and prostate cancer diagnostics, Mr Johnston offers a wide range of treatments including HoLEP, Rezum, TURP, Aquablation, and iTind. He is one of the few Urologists able to offer the full spectrum of enlarged prostate procedures, tailored to individual needs, from patients with long-term catheters to those prioritising sexual function. Mr Johnston also manages conditions such as bladder and scrotal disorders, urinary retention, and interstitial cystitis. Known for his compassionate and thorough approach, he ensures patients are fully informed before any investigation or treatment. He completed his medical degree at Cardiff University in 2010, obtained a PhD from Imperial College under Lord Darzi, and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2021. An active clinical researcher and educator, he has authored over 50 scientific publications and trains junior surgeons across the Wessex region. Outside of medicine, Mr Johnston enjoys family life in Winchester, playing squash, and gardening.
