About
His experience of working in the public and private sectors at a high level means that he has an understanding of the inherent pressures of corporate environments, and their associated mental effects. He is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, the British Psychological Society and the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.
Dr. Stiff works with a wide range of mental health difficulties, including anxiety, depression, addictions (drugs, alcohol, gambling and other addictive behaviours), autism, bereavement, eating disorders, complex trauma, PTSD, ADHD, OCD and learning difficulties. He brings to his work positivity and warmth, working with his clients to understand their problems to develop a solution-focussed approach. He uses his knowledge of person-centred, psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioural theory to adopt an integrative, collaborative approach to his work. His specialisms include CBT, EMDR, DBT, ACT, Solution-Focussed Therapy, Mindfulness and Person-Centred Therapy.
Matthew is a key member of the team at Cognacity and has played a key role in helping to develop Cognacity's residential addictions workshops in Manchester and runs a regular evening addictions group at Cognacity's Harley Street clinic.
As a former archeologist, Dr. Stiff has many strings to his bow and has a keen interest in history, food and culture.
