About

Dr Matthew MacGillivray is a Clinical Psychologist at MindBridge Medical, providing evidence-based psychological therapy and consultation for adults. His therapeutic approach is primarily grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), while also integrating psychodynamic and attachment-informed perspectives where appropriate. This approach supports both the understanding of current behavioural and emotional patterns and the exploration of earlier relational and developmental experiences that may contribute to ongoing difficulties.
Dr MacGillivray provides therapy in a structured, collaborative, and reflective environment with a focus on meaningful and goal-oriented psychological change. He offers both short-term focused interventions and longer-term therapy depending on individual clinical needs.
He works with individuals experiencing a range of psychological and emotional difficulties, including anxiety, low mood and depression, stress and burnout, emotional regulation difficulties, longstanding interpersonal patterns, and ADHD-related challenges alongside medication management where appropriate.
Dr MacGillivray is a Chartered Member of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) and adheres to the organisation’s professional and ethical standards.
His professional experience spans a broad range of healthcare and specialist services, including the Irish Prison Service, Primary Care Psychology Services, Community Mental Health Services, Beaumont Hospital, Children’s Disability Network Teams, and organisations supporting adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities including WALK and Cheeverstown. He currently works within a multidisciplinary Children’s Disability Network Team, where he provides assessment, formulation, and intervention for children with complex needs.
Originally from Scotland, Dr MacGillivray completed his undergraduate degree in Psychology in Edinburgh before moving to Ireland to undertake postgraduate training in Psychological Science at University College Dublin. He later completed his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Limerick.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
