Dr Massimos Cristaldi is a consultant general and colorectal surgeon at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC), Abu Dhabi. He specialises in minimally invasive surgery of anorectal conditions (e.g. anal fistula, hemorrhoids, anal fissure), colorectal cancer, surgical endoscopy, inguinal and abdominal wall hernia repair, and pelvic floor disorders. He has developed one-stop colorectal and pelvic floor clinic integrating high resolution ano-rectal physiology assessment and pelvic US including 3D endo-anal/vaginal US.
Dr Cristaldi graduated from the University of Milan in 1990 before training in general and gastroenterological surgery at the Central University Hospital. He went on to undertake a GI surgery fellowship where he focuses on gastrointestinal conditions, particularly diseases of the large intestine and minimally invasive colorectal surgery. Dr Cristaldi was appointed consultant colorectal surgeon at Oxford Radcliffe University Hospital NHS Trust (UK) in 2003 and specialised in colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. Following seven years in this position, he moved to the UAE where he established a colorectal unit for neoplastic and benign anorectal conditions.
