Dr Alkhamees obtained his primary medical qualification, a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, from King Saud University in Saudi Arabia in 2000. He pursued extensive postgraduate training internationally, earning multiple advanced qualifications from prestigious institutions in France, including specialised certificates in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Heart Valve Surgery, and Artificial Heart and Circulatory Support Devices. He also completed a fellowship in adult cardiac surgery in Canada, is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a Fellow of the French College of Thoracic and Cardio-vascular Surgery.
His clinical practice is focused on complex adult cardiac procedures. Dr Alkhamees has a particular interest in advanced surgical techniques, including coronary artery bypass grafting, heart valve repair and replacement, and aortic aneurysm repair. He is also highly proficient in the management of advanced heart failure, utilising mechanical circulatory support systems such as VAD and ECMO, as well as heart transplantation.
