About
Dr. Katherine (Katie) Malbon is a consultant paediatrician and Clinical Director at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, with expertise spanning paediatrics, adolescent medicine, sexual health, and paediatric mental health.
Dr. Malbon completed her paediatric training in London before moving to the USA in 2007 to undertake a fellowship in adolescent medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York. During her fellowship, she established an innovative text messaging service, “Text in the City”, to support young people attending adolescent health services, which she also used to run a randomised controlled trial on birth control adherence as the principal investigator. While in New York, she trained and practiced as a forensic medical examiner for sexual assault cases and subsequently worked as an Attending Consultant in adolescent medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Following this, she joined Tribeca Pediatrics, where she developed a specialist adolescent service and served as President of the New York Chapter of the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine (NYSAHM). Returning to London in 2015, Dr. Malbon has since established new services in paediatric rheumatology, gynaecology, and adolescent medicine, and is lead for adolescents and paediatric mental health, as well as doctor for safeguarding.
She also contributes nationally as a Clinical Coordinator for child studies at the National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death (NCEPOD) and advises on the LUNA health and well-being app for young people. Her clinical interests include paediatrics, adolescent medicine, sexual health, technology-enabled healthcare, paediatric rheumatology, and mental health, combining innovation with compassionate, evidence-based care for children and young people.
