About Dr Jonathan Beckett
Dr Jonathan Beckett is a consultant in General Adult Psychiatry with more than 15 years of experience as a leader in the field. He has special interests in Bipolar Disorder, Depression, OCD, Anxiety Disorders and Addiction. He is a full-time consultant with the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and he has a private practice based at Nightingale Hospital. He has expertise in the use of CBT, Motivational Interviewing and Psychotherapy to treat conditions, and he is currently undertaking a postgraduate qualification in Human Givens Psychotherapy, which he has a particular interest in. Dr Beckett gained his medical qualification from St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical College, London in 1995. He went on to gain membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 1999 and attained accreditation in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in 2004. He also has a CCST in General Adult Psychiatry and Old Age Psychiatry, with endorsement in Addictions. During his career, he has published his research on the topic of bipolar disorder and capacity within the mental health act. He has also conducted GP courses on topics such as bipolar disorder, depression, addiction, and suicide. Outside of work, Dr Beckett enjoys reading, music, and film. He also likes to keep fit and ran the London Marathon in 2014.
