Dr John Nik Ding, a gastroenterologist at St Vincent's Hospital, Melbourne, specialises in gastroenterology and hepatology with a primary interest in Irritable Bowel Disease. He is also the lead for the National Bowel Cancer Program. As well as St Vincent's public hospital, Dr Ding also sees patients at St Vincent's Private Hospital, Jolimont Endoscopy, and Brunswick Private Hospital.

Dr Ding's PhD research focused on therapeutic stratification of patients with IBD, and was carried out at Imperial College London, where he is now the principal investigator of clinical trials for IBD. He continues to be involved in research and has published a number of journal articles. He also supervises MD students and PhD students, and has written and co-edited the textbook ‘Biomarkers in Inflammatory Bowel Disease.'

Dr Ding has spent time as the head of research for the European Crohn's and Colitis committee and regularly speaks at conferences worldwide. He is also a committee member of the Australian IBD association and founding chair of the Young Gastroenterology Society Network in Australia.
