About
He completed his Bachelor of Medical Science (Hons) at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 2001, followed by his MBBS at the same university in 2004. He later achieved his FRCP in Gastroenterology from Edinburgh in 2011, demonstrating his advanced expertise in the field.
At the University Hospital of North Tees and Hartlepool, Dr Jacob works as a Consultant Gastroenterologist and is the Colon Capsule Clinical Lead. He has a specialist interest in bowel cancer screening, lower GI therapeutic endoscopy, and capsule endoscopy.
Dr Jacob works at both Tees Valley Hospital in Middlesbrough and Nuffield Tees in Stockton. His clinical interests include diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower GI endoscopy, small bowel wireless capsule endoscopy, colon capsule endoscopy, oesophageal, gastric and colorectal cancer, hepatology, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), microscopic colitis, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, Barrett’s oesophagus, coeliac disease, and irritable bowel syndrome, as well as diarrhoea, rectal bleeding, indigestion, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and all other GI conditions.
Dr Jacob is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and an active member of the British Society of Gastroenterology, United European Gastroenterology (teaching faculty), and the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
