About
Mr James Garvan is a Chartered Physiotherapist with a strong background in sports science, rehabilitation, and clinical research. He graduated from University College Cork in 2012 with a Bachelor of Education in Sports Studies and Physical Education before completing his BSc in Physiotherapy at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) in 2018.
During his time at RCSI, James made a notable contribution to clinical research through his study on Balance, Gait and Dizziness in Adult Patients Post Cochlear Implant, which was published in the Cochlear Implants International Journal in 2020.
Following graduation, James gained extensive experience across both public and private healthcare settings. He completed all core rotations at St. Vincent’s University Hospital, where he developed a broad clinical foundation in musculoskeletal rehabilitation, orthopaedics, cardiorespiratory physiotherapy, and neuro/stroke recovery. His time in the acute hospital environment helped refine his assessment and treatment skills across diverse patient groups.
James has a particular interest in athletic development and sports rehabilitation, combining evidence-based practice with performance-focused training principles. Alongside his clinical work at Pearse Street Physiotherapy, he serves as Physiotherapist for the Old Wesley Under-20s Rugby Football Club, and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Strength and Conditioning to further enhance his expertise in sports performance and rehabilitation.
