About
Dr Henno Martin is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at Cambridge University Hospitals and GenesisCare Newmarket, specialising in the treatment of prostate, bladder and breast cancers across all stages of disease. He provides both systemic anti-cancer therapies and radiotherapy, including brachytherapy, and also works closely with Sciensus Homecare to enable patients to receive treatment safely and effectively in their own homes.
Alongside cancer treatment, Dr Martin places a strong emphasis on supportive care and quality of life. He has authored several Cambridge University Hospitals guidelines on the management of cancer treatment side effects and has completed specialist European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) training in supportive care, ensuring patients are well supported during and after treatment.
His research interests focus on the development of simple blood-based tests, including circulating tumour DNA, to guide cancer care and reduce the need for invasive monitoring. This work has been recognised through national awards, competitive research funding and presentations at international conferences.
Dr Martin contributes at a national level through his work with the Royal College of Radiologists and as a case reviewer for the National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcomes and Death. He is also deeply committed to education and mentorship, having received multiple commendations for his teaching of medical students at the University of Cambridge.
He trained in medicine at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, with further academic study in Göttingen and Freiburg.
