After qualifying in obstetrics and gynaecology, she practiced for 10 years in Bahrain at Bahrain Specialist Hospital and American Mission Hospital. She then moved to the UAE in 2012 and began working at Latifa Hospital in Dubai, followed by Medcare Women and Children Hospital. She joined King's College Hospital London in 2019.
Dr Kalam has extensive expertise in gynaecological laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for the treatment and management of a broad range of gynaecological conditions and pregnancy problems. These conditions include: ovarian cysts, polyps, fibroids, ectopic pregnancy, infertility, pelvic adhesions, uterine disorders and Bartholin's cysts.
