Dr. Hassan Aref Shabana is a Consultant Pulmonologist with over 20 years of experience working in prominent hospitals across Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. He also serves as a professor of chest diseases at Cairo University's Kasr Al-Aini Hospital.
Dr. Shabana graduated with honors from Cairo University's Faculty of Medicine and began his academic career as an assistant lecturer there in 1995. He completed his Master's degree in chest diseases and tuberculosis in 1998 and obtained his MD in chest diseases in 2002. His research on asthma earned him the award for best research from the Egyptian Society of Chest Diseases in 2002. He has published numerous articles in specialised journals and presented at conferences both in Egypt and internationally.
His areas of interest include asthma and other airway diseases, respiratory tract infections, pneumonia, tuberculosis, respiratory allergic disorders, interstitial lung diseases, pleural disorders, sleep disorders such as sleep apnea and snoring, and bronchoscopy, including interventional procedures and respiratory malignancies. He also specialises in respiratory critical care medicine and smoking cessation.
Dr. Shabana is a member of the American Thoracic Society, the European Respiratory Society, and the Egyptian Society of Chest Diseases.
