About Dr Hamish Morrison
Dr Hamish Morrison is a Consultant Neurologist at Southmead Hospital (North Bristol) and the Royal United Hospital (RUH) Bath. Dr Morrison trained in medicine at Edinburgh University and has a first class honours degree in Pharmacology. Dr Morrison trained undertook neurology training in Southwest England before completing an Association of British Neurologists (ABN) Advanced Clinical Fellowship in Movement Disorders in Bristol. As a general neurologist, Dr Morrison routinely sees patients with a wide range of neurological conditions. He has a sub-specialist interest in Movement Disorders including Parkinson’s disease, tremor and dystonia. Dr Morrison is the lead neurologist for Movement Disorders at the RUH and runs regular Parkinson’s clinics. At Southmead Hospital he runs clinics for advanced (device assisted) Parkinson’s and tremor treatments, including deep brain stimulation (DBS) and infusion therapies. Dr Morrison is trained in ultrasound guided botulinum toxin injections for a range of movement disorder indications. Dr Morrison undertook clinical research during his neurology training focussing on rare genetic disorder - Dopa Responsive Dystonia- and studying links between sleep and cognitive function in Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease. Dr Morrison has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and presented work internationally. Dr Morrison regularly attends meetings to keep up-to-date with clinical and scientific developments in his field and to foster collaborative working. Dr Morrison is committed to teaching and training of medical students, resident doctors, General Practitioners and future neurologists. He delivers lectures to undergraduates at the University of Bristol and is an educational supervisor for neurology trainees.
