Neben seiner Tätigkeit als Arzt hegt Dr. med. Mattitsch eine große Leidenschaft für Musik. Er gründete 1972 das auf Renaissancemusik spezialisierte Ensemble Hortus Musicus. Seine eigenen musikalischen Werke beschreibt er als "seriell, mit postmoderner Freiheit, kompromisslos".
