About Mr Franscois Runau
Mr Francois Runau is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon with extensive expertise in bowel cancer, early rectal cancers, inflammatory bowel disease, abdominal wall reconstruction and the full range of hernia surgery. His practice is rooted in modern, minimally invasive techniques, and he places strong emphasis on laparoscopic and keyhole approaches to ensure safe procedures, faster recovery, and the best possible outcomes for his patients. He also has specialist expertise in anorectal conditions, managing haemorrhoids, fistulas, anal fissures, pilonidal sinus disease and anal skin tags, with a particular interest in laser-based treatment options. In addition to his surgical work, he performs diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy. Mr Runau graduated from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Medical School before completing his higher surgical and colorectal training across Leicester Hospitals, supplemented by fellowships in leading regional and European units. He has a strong academic background and has published widely in general and colorectal surgery. He was awarded a PhD in Cancer Treatment from the University of Leicester in 2019.
