Besondere Schwerpunkte von Prof. Martetschläger liegen auf der minimal-invasiven, arthroskopischen Chirurgie des Schulter- und Ellenbogengelenkes sowie auf der Implantation von Schulterprothesen bei Arthrose oder Defektarthropathie (Folgeschaden nach Riss der Rotatorenmanschette).
Prof. Dr. Martetschläger ist ordentliches Mitglied zahlreicher nationaler und internationaler Fachgesellschaften und aktuell Vorsitzender der Europäischen Schultervereinigung ESA (European Shoulder Associates).
