Since 2003, he has taught medical students at Queens University Belfast. His year in Australia in 2012, where skin cancer screening is routine, inspired his advanced training in dermoscopy and skin cancer management.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr McGrady is active on social media, running a YouTube channel with over 23,000 subscribers, where he shares medical and lifestyle advice for better skin health. Outside medicine, he is a keen triathlete and lead guitarist in a rock band.
