Dr Erik Hohmann is an experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and Sports Physician. He has received education and training in Germany and South Africa, he completed a fellowship in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine under Professor Andreas Imhoff in Munich, Germany. Dr Hohmann has significant experience with Orthopaedic Surgery, Sports Medicine, as well as Sports Injuries/Trauma due not only to his practice but also his research contributions to the field.
Dr. Hohmann is Board-certified in Orthopaedics, Trauma Surgery and Sports Medicine, as well as being a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow (FRCS). He has also worked extensively in the field as a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Queensland in Australia, and more recently as a Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon specialising particularly in arthroscopic surgery, sports medicine and complex knee and shoulder reconstructions at Rockhampton Hospital. For the last 18 years, he has worked as a team physician for various professional and semiprofessional sporting teams and individual athletes.
Dr Hohmann is an instructor for arthroscopic surgery for the German Speaking Association for Arthroscopic Surgery (AGA). He is also an associate editor for the Journal of Arthroscopy. Throughout his career, Dr Hohmann has acquired numerous professional memberships and affiliations, including the Medical Council of Germany, Sports Medicine Australia, ISAKOS (International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine), Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, GOTS (German Society of Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Traumatology), ESSKA (European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy), and the Association of German Speaking Arthroscopists.
