Professor Ehab N. El-Rayes is a highly respected Ophthalmologist with over 25 years of experience in his field. He is currently the chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at the Institute of Ophthalmology in Cairo and a member of numerous international ophthalmological societies. He received his medical degree with honours from Ain Shams University and completed his residency at Cairo University Hospitals. He then pursued a Master's degree in Ophthalmology from Cairo University before training as a vitreoretinal fellow at Associated Retinal Consultants in Royal Oak, Michigan, where he also undertook a year of research fellowship at Research Eye Institute, Oakland University.
Professor El-Rayes is a specialist in retinal and vitreous detachment surgeries, treatment of complications of diabetes on the retina, treatment of retinopathy of newborns, and macular surgeries for age-related retinal disease. He is a primary investigator in clinical trials both nationally and internationally, and he is a vitreoretinal surgeon in the Retina service at the Eye Institute hospital. He is a fellow of The American Society of Retina Specialists and a recipient of numerous international awards, including the Amin El Maghraby Award, the International Education Award, and the Honor Award from the American Society of Retina Specialists.
Apart from his clinical expertise, Professor El-Rayes is actively involved in teaching, fellow training, publications, journal reviews, and book chapters, serving on a number of educational and research committees. He is a scientific reviewer and editorial board member of several reputable journals, including Retina, Asia-Pacific Journal of Ophthalmology, and American Journal of Ophthalmology case reports. Professor El-Rayes is highly regarded by his colleagues and patients alike for his unparalleled skill, dedication, and commitment to providing the highest standard of care in his practice.
