Dr Solanki is a former chair of the England Council of the British Geriatrics Society. He has been active in the training of Specialist Registrars in his field, having been the Educational Supervisor for Specialist Trainees in geriatrics at his trust. He is an examiner for the MRCP examinations (Royal College of Physicians). His interests in research include osteoporosis, vitamin D and metabolic bone disease. He also has a passion for Safety and Quality in healthcare, and is involved in quality improvement programmes both within his trust and the British Geriatrics Society. He has a number of medical publications and has presented at National and International Conferences. At the start of the Covid-19 pandemic he wrote a blog on the effects on Covid-19 on older people and it remains the highest viewed blog on the British Geriatrics Society website.
