Consultant cardiologist Dr Ahsan is based at St Bartholomew's Hospital where he is also the training lead for the heart rhythm unit at Barts Health Centre. He also sees patients at North Middlesex University Hospital and was responsible for implementing the arrhythmia service there.

He also earned an MD from University College London, where his research investigating techniques to improve outcomes in patients with cardiac rhythm devices earned him the Royal Society of Medicine National Prize. He remains active in research and is currently investigating novel methods for the treatment of atrial fibrillation.
