About

Dr. Gooriah graduated in medicine from the University of Leeds in 2008. He also holds a First-Class honours degree in Medical Sciences. He undertook his foundation training at the Leeds University Teaching Hospitals, after which he started specialist training in the Yorkshire Deanery, working in Leeds, Huddersfield, and Hull. He has been a consultant neurologist since 2017 and possesses considerable experience in a broad range of acute and chronic neurological diseases. He is also an expert in the diagnosis and management of dementia and movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease, tremors, and restless legs syndrome. He runs specialist clinics for these conditions. This is in addition to general clinics for symptoms such as headaches, seizures, funny turns, dizziness, pins and needles, etc. His approach to patients with neurological symptoms is simple. Every patient presents in a unique way, should be given time to be listened to, and deserves to be treated the same way you would want to be treated yourself.

As a consultant, Dr. Gooriah has helped develop a pathway to improve the diagnosis of dementia in Hull. He holds a monthly multidisciplinary meeting with healthcare providers to support them with the diagnosis and treatment of patients with dementia at the Hull Memory Clinic.

Dr. Gooriah is the clinical lead for neurology at the Hull University Teaching Hospitals. He is the Royal College of Physicians Regional Specialty Advisor for Yorkshire and a previous member of the service committee of the Association of British Neurologists between 2017 and 2023. He has a keen interest in the training of junior doctors and aspiring neurologists.

Dr Gooriah sees patients who are insured with AXA PPP, WPA, Vitality, Healix, Aviva and BUPA.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
