About Prof Ravish Katira
Dr Ravish Katira is a well experienced Consultant Cardiologist practicing at Spire Liverpool Hospital and Fairfield Independent Hospital. He has specialist expertise in heart failure, heart valve disorders, hypertension, and atrial fibrillation, as well as in cardiac risk assessment prior to non-cardiac surgeries. With expertise in primary prevention advice, Dr Katira regularly conducts 'heart wise' clinics, ensuring comprehensive cardiac care for his patients. In his current clinical practice Dr Katira offers both virtual and face-to-face consultations, providing accessible and personalised care to his patients. He maintains close collaborations with leading cardiac interventionists and surgeons in Liverpool and Manchester, allowing discussions with multidisciplinary teams for complex cases, thereby offering life-saving treatments or significant symptomatic relief. Dr Katira earned his medical degree with honours at Meerut University in India in 1987, followed by his postgraduate education resulting in his MD (Medicine) and DM (Cardiology) degrees. Having migrated to the United Kingdom in 1996, Dr Katira further developed his expertise in cardiac imaging, including echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, CT coronary angiography, invasive coronary angiography, pacemaker implantation, angioplasties, and complex bi-ventricular pacemakers. He also gained expertise in angina, hypertension, heart failure, palpitations, and syncope (fainting). He later became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in London and was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist in 2005. Beyond clinical practice, Dr Katira holds significant roles in healthcare leadership and education. As a Senior NHS Consultant Cardiologist and Postgraduate Clinical Tutor at Whiston Hospital, St Helens & Knowsley Teaching NHS Trust, he leads various subspecialties including Community Heart Failure services, Nuclear Cardiology, and Coronary CT Angiography. Additionally, he serves as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leeds. Outside of his clinical work, Dr Katira holds professional memberships with the British Society of Echocardiography, British Society of Heart Failure, British Cardiovascular Society, and British Medical Association. He serves as a Director of the British Association of Cardiologists of Indian Origin and participates in the European Society of Cardiology Working Groups on 'Cardiovascular Pharmacology' and 'E Cardiology'.
