About
Full Price Information Here.
Dr Phillip Vernon is a practicing GP with a long held interest and significant experience in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. He has a very unique perspective and skill set given his UK medical training. He has combined his medical training in the UK with acupuncture and Chinese medicine to provide harmonious care and treatment for his patients.
"When I read my first book on acupuncture while studying at the Medical School I was intrigued. At the time, there was nothing like it taught in the Western medical world. My first acupuncture course was in 1980 and over the next 30 years I have been studying — and teaching — acupuncture whilst working as a general practitioner."
Since graduating Dr Vernon, alongside his GP training, also developed expertise and training in acupuncture and Chinese medicine. He has been tutored in acupuncture by Dr Colin Lessell, George Lewith and Dr Julian Kenyon, taking over the latter's practice in 1982.
Dr Vernon believes in empowering his patients and strives to help show them how to maximise the exercise, including yoga and Tai Chi to feel healthier and stronger in their daily lives.
He has breadth of experience that includes working at Liverpool Walton's Pain Clinic,to practicing in Australia until ultimately settling in London.
Given his experience Dr Vernon has long been involved in teaching and training other practitioners. Dr. Vernon was involved in teaching on Ear Acupuncture and Auriculotherapy, and, Electro-acupuncture, Tens and Laser modules as part of the Chinese Medicine and Syndrome Acupuncture Diploma course for medical doctors and healthcare professionals.
Dr. Vernon Is a Fellow of the Chinese Medical Institute and Register and also a member of its Steering Committee. He has written a handbook on acupuncture Guide to the Location and Use of 48 Important Points and has contributed to the CMIR's academic projects as an author and editorial advisor. He has also co-chaired CMIR symposiums on the integration of Chinese Medicine.
In his spare time he can be found gardening or bird watching – though professes the later is more a pastime than obsession. He also enjoys learning about the origins and roots of his practice; from earliest acupuncture needle to technologies from the stone-age.
