Dr. Paul Kooner is a Consultant Hepatologist who specialises in liver disease. He is highly experienced in all areas of liver medicine with an interest in the diagnosis and management of fatty liver disease, liver Fibroscan (for liver scarring assessment), interpretation of abnormal liver function tests.
Dr. Kooner has worked in the NHS at the Royal London Hospital for over ten years where has led the regional hepatocellular carcinoma service. His main aim is to detect liver disease early in order to reduce progression to more serious problems, and he conducts thorough examinations and tests in order to do this. During his career, he has introduced new liver cancer screening pathways for the early diagnosis and screening for liver problems. He has also previously led the outreach hepatology service for Queens Hospital. More recently he has moved his NHS service to Hertfordshire.
Dr. Kooner gained his MBBS from the University of London in 1996. He is a member of a number of professional organisations including the British, European, and American Associations of the Study of the Liver.
