From 2002 to 2016, Dr Green worked as a consultant perinatal psychiatrist at St Thomas' Hospital (South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust) before becoming the Perinatal Clinical Lead at the West London NHS Trust, where she was based until 2018.

Dr Green is deeply committed to ensuring that women receive high-quality mental health treatment throughout and after pregnancy. She is a recognised leader in the development of perinatal mental health services and has previously headed the South London and North West London Clinical Networks for the Pan London Perinatal Mental Health Network. She has also co-authored the London Perinatal Mental Health Care Pathways and been a member of the British Association for Psychopharmacology's consensus guidelines development committee for the use of psychotropic medication before, during, and after pregnancy.

Dr Green has extensive experience in teaching professionals, including midwives, health visitors, obstetricians, general practitioners, and mental health providers. She is the Royal College of Psychiatrists' Clinical Lead for the Perinatal Masterclass Programme and was previoulsy a Visiting Lecturer in Perinatal Mental Health at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust designing and delivering perinatal mental health training for a range of professionals.
