About Dr Ian Gabriel
Dr Ian Gabriel is a Consultant Haematologist and the Lead Clinician at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and he is also a Stem Cell (Bone Marrow) Transplant Consultant at Imperial College. Dr Gabriel sees patients privately at a number of locations, including the Lister and the London Bridge Hospitals. Dr Gabriel qualified in medicine from St Mary's Hospital Medical School – Imperial College in 1999 and completed specialist training in haematology in London. He has a Joint Consultant position with Imperial College NHS Healthcare Trust (Hammersmith Hospital) where he specialises in haemato-oncology (myeloma) and stem cell transplantation and at Chelsea and Westminster, where he leads the service for blood cancers, including myeloma, lymphoma, myelodysplasia and leukaemia. He completed research for his PhD in transplant immunology. Dr Gabriel is also one of the leading clinicians for stem cell treatment for multiple sclerosis, leading the service at Imeprial College. He is a founding member of the European Consortium for Stem Cell Mobilisation (ECOSM), a member of the European Blood and Marrow Transplant Group (EBMT) autoimmune disease and acute leukaemia working parties. He is also primary and co-investigator on a number of national and international clinical trials in haematology. Further he runs a general haematology clinic, including for anti-coagulation conditions. He has published numerous peer reviewed papers on lymphoma, myeloma, leukaemia and HIV haematology, in addition to those on stem cell transplantation and authored a number of book chapters.
