Prof Euan Cameron
Respiratory Medicine
About
His early medical career was based in Glasgow, where he secured a place on the highly competitive training programme within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. He achieved Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP UK) in 2004, passing all parts on the first attempt. It was during these formative years that Dr Cameron developed a lasting passion for respiratory medicine, later continuing his training in Edinburgh.
In 2007, Dr Cameron entered higher specialist training in Respiratory Medicine. His commitment to academic research led to his appointment as Clinical Research Fellow (2009) in the Asthma and COPD Research Unit under Professor Neil C. Thomson, a global leader in airways disease. He completed his PhD in 2013, publishing in high-impact journals and presenting his research at international conferences. In parallel, he became one of the first doctors to sit—and pass—the newly introduced Specialist Certificate in Respiratory Medicine (2010).
In 2014, Dr Cameron was appointed Consultant Physician in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine at Forth Valley Royal Hospital. He considers it a privilege to serve the Forth Valley community. Upon becoming a consultant, he was also elected Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (FRCP Glasg).
Beyond clinical practice, Dr Cameron has played a vital role in medical education and assessment, serving as an examiner for the Royal Colleges across all levels. He has continued his research as a Local Principal Investigator in multiple national and international multi-centre studies. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he contributed to critical vaccine response research, leading to a study published in The Lancet on healthcare worker immunity.
In recognition of his academic contributions, Dr Cameron was appointed Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Glasgow in 2020, and subsequently elevated to Honorary Clinical Associate Professor in 2024.
Since 2016, Dr Cameron has also offered private consultations at King’s Park Hospital (Stirling) and Spire Shawfair Park Hospital (Edinburgh). Alongside his respiratory practice, he provides specialist assessments in allergy and immunology, including investigations and targeted biologic (monoclonal antibody) therapies.
Committed to lifelong learning, Dr Cameron expanded his expertise with a Certificate in Health Economics and Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science (2022) and a Certificate in Healthcare Leadership from Stanford University (2023).
In 2023, he was appointed Chair of the Council of Healthcare Professionals at Asthma + Lung UK, reflecting his dedication to advocacy and voluntary service in respiratory health.
With over two decades of postgraduate experience, Dr Cameron offers expert care in respiratory disease, allergy, and general internal medicine.
