Dr Elizabeth Williams is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist working at University Hospitals Dorset and Consulting Privately at the BMI Harbour Hospital.
Liz qualified as a doctor in 1990 from Southampton University and then undertook her higher training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology in the Wessex region. She studied for a PhD looking at fibrosis (scarring) of the Liver at the University of Southampton.
Liz became a Consultant at Poole Hospital in Dorset in 2004 and has Consulted at the Harbour Hospital since that time. She has a wide experience in General Gastroenterology with subspeciality interests in liver disease, iron deficiency anaemia and indigestion. She offers a range and diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic proceedures.
Dr Williams undertook a PhD as a senior trainee looking into the cellular mechanism underlying liver fibrosis and published a number of papers in this area. As a Consultant she has remained actively involved in research having published papers on a range of subjects including, iron deficiency anaemia, post investigation cancers and the assessment of swallowing difficulties.
Dr Williams is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and an acitve member of the British Society of Gastroenterology and the British Association for the Study of the Liver.
Outside of Medicine Liz has 3 sons and lives with her family in Poole.
