About Dr Donald Batten
I retired from the NHS in 2016, after 41 years service, with 36 years as a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist. In that time I have worked in Adolescent Inpatient settings and also Community Clinics [CAMHS] in Cardiff, Cheltenham, Swindon, and also Melbourne, Australia. Areas of special interest have included neurodevelopmental psychiatry [incl. ADHD and ASD], Family Therapy, Paediatric Liaison, PTSD, and psychotropic medication. I also have an MA in the Ethics of Healthcare from Swansea. Since moving into the private sector my clinical work has become more focussed on PTSD, depression and anxiety and I am now frequently asked to carry out specialist assessments for the courts. My clinics have been divided between Cheltenham and Bristol, but since the Covid pandemic and working remotely this has become less so.
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
