About Dr Dean Creer
Dean Creer is a highly experienced consultant in respiratory and general medicine with an NHS base at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. He studied medicine at the University of Cape Town Medical School, graduating in 1991, and completed his specialist medical training in London at leading institutions including the Royal Free Hospital, the London Chest Hospital and St Bartholomew’s Hospital. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and has worked as a specialist respiratory and general medicine physician since 2004. Dr Creer has developed extensive expertise in the clinical assessment of respiratory disease, with particular strength in interpreting chest X-rays, chest CT scans and specialised pulmonary function tests to provide thorough, integrated assessments. He is also highly experienced in bronchoscopy, having performed more than 2,000 procedures to directly visualise and assess the airways. His practice covers the full spectrum of respiratory medicine. He routinely assesses common and complex respiratory symptoms including acute and longstanding cough, excessive sputum production, coughing up blood, breathlessness and wheeze, as well as positive TB skin or blood tests. He has significant experience in the investigation and management of suspected lung cancer, including patients undergoing lung cancer screening. Dr Creer manages conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease including chronic bronchitis and emphysema, unexplained breathlessness and chronic cough. He has a particular interest in chest infections, including pneumonia, bronchiectasis and tuberculosis, and is known for his careful, comprehensive and patient-focused approach to diagnosis and care.
