D.C. Claudio Merkier

Dr. Claudio Merkier BEd BSc DC CCEP ICSC MSc FRCC (Sports) (Education) is a highly experienced Doctor of Chiropractic with over 29 years of clinical practice, specialising in sports and exercise rehabilitation. He is available for consultations in both the City of London EC2 and Friern Barnet, North London N11. Claudio is a registered health provider with numerous private medical insurance companies, including AXA, Bupa, Vitality, Aviva, Cigna, and others. He has been registered with the General Chiropractic Council since 2000, which operates under the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care. Claudio holds the title of "Specialist Fellow" from the Royal College of Chiropractors Sports (RCCSF) and Education (RCCSE) faculties in the UK, and is a member of the Public Health Society. He is also involved in the RCC Graduate Education Programme, acting as a mentor for recently qualified chiropractors. With a special interest in sports chiropractic clinical research, Claudio has been studying the role of pre-competition chiropractic care on performance in older athletes, particularly in track and field, through his Professional Doctorate (PhD) at London South Bank University. His research is registered with ISRCTN and the Open Science Framework. Claudio completed an MSc in Sports and Exercise Rehabilitation with Merit in 2011 from St Mary's University College in Twickenham, where his research on manipulation's short-term effects on rugby players was published in the "Clinical Chiropractic" journal. He has also contributed to research investigating neck function and its effects on cervical range of motion in rugby players. Additionally, in 2015, Claudio studied Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilisation through the Prague Rehabilitation School, further enhancing his clinical expertise. Claudio has vast experience managing musculoskeletal conditions, particularly back and neck pain, and sports injuries. Since 1998, he has been a full member of the British Chiropractic Association (BCA) and obtained recognition as a Doctor of Chiropractic in 2002 through the European Chiropractors' Union Board of Education. He is also a full member of the International Federation of Sports Chiropractic (FICS) and the British Association of Sports and Exercise Medicine (BASEM). Claudio has been involved in numerous prestigious sporting events, including the Commonwealth Games (Birmingham 2022), the IAAF World Athletics Championships (London 2017), and the London 2012 Olympic Games, as well as the World Maccabi Games and several European and World Masters Athletics Championships.
