About Dr Ben Thomas
Dr Thomas, Consultant in Pain Medicine, is currently based at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. He is specialised in the treatment of pain in circumstances like spinal injury, joint and back injury, slipped discs, and for medical advice after acute injury. He provides opinion for neuropathic pain such as scar pain, post operative chronic pain, long term shingles pain (PHN) amongst other conditions. His opinion is sought when issues arise when surgery is not needed, not appropriate or not desired. He works closely with medical and surgical consultant colleagues. He began his medical training at St Bartholomew's and the Royal London Hospital. He then went on advanced training in medicine and anaesthesia in East London, being accepted in 2004 to the Imperial School of Anaesthesia. He completed advanced pain training at Imperial. He was awarded fellowship by the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 2009. He subsequently completed further training in adolescent and paediatric pain at Great Ormond Street. He is a fellow of the RCOA Faculty of Pain Medicine.
