About Dr Anju Kulkarni
Dr Anju Kulkarni is a Consultant Clinical Geneticist and leads the Cancer Genetics service at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. She sees patients privately at HCA UK's London Bridge Hospital, Leaders in Oncology Care (LOC), the Harley Street Clinic and the Wellington Hospital. She is an advisor on the HCA Healthcare UK Genomic Review Board, Breast Tumour Board and Urology Tumour Board. Dr Kulkarni is one of only a few Clinical Geneticists nationally to have trained at a specialist level in both Clinical Genetics and Medical Oncology, giving her an in-depth knowledge of genomics and translational medicine within cancer care. She has a special interest in: • Inherited gene changes which cause predisposition to cancer • Genetic counselling and genomic test interpretation for cancer predisposition • Common hereditary cancers e.g. breast, ovarian, endometrial, prostate and bowel cancers • Dermatological cancer genetics and skin cancer Dr Kulkarni also has a passion for developing innovative technologies and using digital transformation in the field of genomics to improve patient care. She has been instrumental in the development of the Cancer Genetics App, now known as QGenome, which supports clinicians to assess risk of hereditary cancers and provides referral guidance, and Nucleus an online genomics educational platform for healthcare professionals. Dr Kulkarni has a track record of establishing policies and guidelines relating to cancer genetics, by working with a broad range of colleagues across clinical genetics, oncology and allied healthcare specialties. It is important that HCA is transparent about our relationship with those doctors who provide us with clinical guidance on delivering the best possible care to patients and operating our hospitals safely and efficiently. We set out here some of the ways in which we work together and the amount we pay this doctor for such services.
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
