About Dr Alan Shand
Dr Alan Shand is a Gastroenterologist. Dr Shand graduated with commendation from the University of Aberdeen. They undertook postgraduate training in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine in Aberdeen, Edinburgh & London. Dr Shand is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, a member of the St Mark's Association and the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG), having sat on the BSG Small Bowel and Nutrition Committee. Dr Shand currently advises the Scottish Parliament Cross Party Working Group on Coeliac disease and Dermatitis Herpetiformis on medical matters relating to Coeliac disease. Dr Shand is a Gastroenterologist who diagnoses and treats a large number of people with a wide variety of gastrointestinal complaints affecting the whole of the gastrointestinal tract. They are fully trained in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and colonoscopy and also possess expertise in the area of short bowel syndrome and nutritional therapies of gastrointestinal problems. Dr Shand's clinical and diagnostic experience, allows them to deliver the highest quality of care to people with digestive or gastrointestinal problems.
