About
Dr Douglas Maslin is a Consultant Dermatologist who qualified in Medicine at Cambridge University, then later worked as an honorary and locum consultant at Addenbrooke's hospital until December 2025, who sees private patients at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital. He has a particular interest in inflammatory skin conditions, rashes, and skin cancer detection and treatment. He is known for his clear, patient-focused communication and takes pride in ensuring individuals understand their condition and the available treatment options.
Dr Maslin graduated in medicine from the University of Cambridge in 2012 and completed his specialist dermatology training at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. He became a consultant in April 2023. Alongside his clinical work, he has led research into skin cancers and inflammatory skin conditions, and works closely with a dermatology-focused pharmaceutical company to help improve awareness and develop new treatments. His research has been widely published and presented internationally, particularly in the areas of gut health, psoriasis, eczema, steroid safety/withdrawal, hand dermatitis and patient preferences / patient reported outcomes.
His clinical practice includes the management of adult dermatology patients - including inflammatory skin diseases such as psoriasis, eczema, hand dermatitis and rosacea. He also treats viral, fungal and bacterial skin infections, and performs cryotherapy for keratoses, warts and precancerous lesions. A key area of interest is the use of dermoscopy for accurate assessment of skin lesions and the early detection of skin cancers, including basal cell carcinoma (BCC), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), and melanoma. He offers mole checks, skin screening, and dermatological surgery, as well as treatments for various causes of hair loss.
Throughout his career, Dr Maslin has received numerous awards and scholarships for his contributions to dermatology, including the Champion Prize for Dermatology from the University of Cambridge, multiple scholarships from the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, and fellowships and awards from the British Association of Dermatologists, the UK Dermatology Clinical Trials Network and the British Photodermatology Group.
