About Dr Dora Amran
Dr. Dora Amran is an accomplished Respiratory Consultant with experience in managing a wide range of respiratory conditions, including asthma, lung cancer, post-COVID-19 lung disease, pulmonary embolism, and sleep apnoea. Since 2016, Dr. Amran has specialised in pleural diseases and led significant advancements in this field. Dr. Amran is the Pleural Lead at Southend Hospital, where they conduct complex procedures such as bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (EBUS), and pleural procedures under ultrasound guidance. Her leadership of the hospital's Specialist Pleural Clinic earned them recognition as a finalist for the “Hospital Heroes Patient’s Choice Award” in 2017. She has a passion for education, as Dr. Amran regularly trains medical students, junior doctors, and consultants. She conducts annual pleural disease courses and offer interactive sessions for general practitioners and community nurses. Dr. Amran also supervises trainees from prestigious medical schools, including Barts and The London School of Medicine. Dr. Amran’s commitment to excellence was celebrated during the COVID-19 pandemic when they were a finalist in Southend Hospital’s “Annual Shine Awards” for outstanding service delivery. Today, she continues to provide compassionate, high-quality care while actively supporting the Community Respiratory Team and advancing the field of respiratory medicine.
