About
Mr Rajah is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon based at the Ulster Hospital and Musgrave Park Hospital in Belfast. With over 15 years of NHS experience, he specialises in conditions affecting the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand. His clinical practice covers the management of sports injuries, trauma, degenerative joint disease, arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, and joint reconstruction (replacement).
After graduating from the University of Edinburgh in 2009, Mr Rajah completed his foundation training in Edinburgh, followed by core surgical training in London. He undertook his specialist orthopaedic training on the South-East London rotation, gaining extensive experience at world-renowned centres including Guy’s and St Thomas’ and King’s College Hospitals.
A recipient of the prestigious British Orthopaedic Association Travelling Fellowship, Mr Rajah gained valuable international experience at Le Tour Hospital, Geneva, and the Institut de Chirurgie Réparatrice Locomoteur et Sport, Nice. He subsequently completed advanced fellowships in shoulder and elbow surgery at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, and St George’s Hospital, London, followed by a hand surgery fellowship at University College Hospital, London.
Mr Rajah is deeply passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care with professionalism and respect. He prioritises non-surgical treatments whenever possible and utilises the latest evidence-based surgical techniques when intervention is required. Committed to patient education, he ensures every patient receives clear, thorough explanations and works closely with rehabilitation specialists to optimise recovery and reduce the risk of re-injury.
An enthusiastic educator, Mr Rajah regularly serves as faculty on surgical training courses and contributes to the teaching of medical students at Queen’s University Belfast and Ulster University. He is an alumnus of the British Orthopaedic Association Future Leaders Programme (2022) and has served as an Associate Principal Investigator in national research studies.
Outside of medicine, Mr Rajah enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, travelling, running, and playing football. He recently completed the London Marathon, raising funds for Cancer Research UK.
