Ms Deirdre McGill is an experienced and Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist who has been supporting individuals and couples since 2013. She adopts a client-centred, humanistic approach, creating a safe, compassionate, and non-judgemental therapeutic space where clients can work at their own pace and explore their experiences with confidence and support.
Deirdre works with adults in both one-to-one and couples therapy and is dedicated to helping clients integrate practical coping skills to manage current challenges and improve long-term wellbeing. She has extensive experience supporting people affected by emotional, sexual, and physical abuse, and works sensitively with issues related to trauma, relationships, anxiety, family difficulties, anger, low self-esteem, depression, and bereavement. She also has an interest in spirituality, cultural difference, and the impact of childhood experiences on adult life.
Her therapeutic focus includes developing assertiveness, improving communication in relationships, grounding techniques for anxiety, and building self-worth, self-confidence, and self-esteem. Deirdre’s aim is always to empower clients to make positive choices, strengthen their relationships, and bring meaningful change into their lives.
Deirdre holds a BSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Middlesex University and a Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from PCI College. She is an Accredited Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Supervisor holding a membership of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP). Her approach integrates a range of evidence-based modalities including Client-Centred Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Choice Theory and Reality Therapy, Grief Therapy, and approaches tailored specifically for couples and anger management.
